Having a Healthy Pregnancy

pregnant, pregnancy, pregnant belly

Having a healthy pregnancy, doesn't just mean having a healthy baby, but also a healthy mom. As a mother of 2, and soon to be 3, I know how important it is to take care of my body so that I am more able to take care of my children. After gaining nearly 50 pounds with my first child, I knew I was not ever going to look like that again. With my second I stayed right within the healthy range and gained 30 pounds, and felt pretty fantastic...not to mention I looked so much better as well. I think where a lot of women "mess up" is that once they find out they are pregnant, they get this idea into their heads that they need to eat a lot of food, and that every craving should be catered to....not a good idea! First time mom's seem to be the ones who put on the most weight during their pregnancies, for this exact reason.

But the mental games we play with ourselves can easily be tamed by following simple guidelines. For example:

*Meal plans that are simple and nutritious

*Knowing what foods are good and which foods should be avoided

*How to strengthen your core muscles even with your growing belly

*Which muscles need to be stretched (though not the same for every pregnant woman)

*How to make labor and delivery easier than you ever imagined

*Staying fit without exercise equipment

*Fit pregnancy options for every budget

Many of these may sound like commonsense, however it is amazing how few women actually take the time to indulge themselves (and babies) in these healthy activities, and nutritional guidelines. The simple truth is that many pregnant mom's-to-be just simply don't think they have the time or energy to be healthy...but they couldn't be more wrong.

The book The Simple and Healthy Pregnancy Guide written by Laura Flynn (a registered dietician) and Michelle Ladd (an Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer and Holistic Lifestyle Coach), is such an important tool in ensuring a fit and healthy pregnancy because unlike traditional pregnancy books, with information that could have been found in the 1950's, this book is tailor made for the modern, working mom.

With lifestyle tips and meal plans for even the busiest of busy women. Their guide gives an in depth look into exactly what makes the female body have optimal function during this very important time. The authors also include never before seen tips for having a hot body during pregnancy and an even hotter one after.

Not only are they highly recommended and endorsed by medical professionals, doulas, and moms a like, but they themselves have used these methods while carrying their own children. I can't say enough about how awesome this book is...every pregnant woman deserves a copy. I promise...you won't be disappointed!
