Cervical Mucous During Pregnancy

Many women notice an increase in cervical mucous during pregnancy . For some it is the first sign they are pregnant! If you are trying to conceive and you know for sure you have ovulated, and your still having a lot of cervical fluid there is a good chance you are indeed pregnant!

Changes During a Woman's Cycle

During a woman's cycle her cervical mucus changes. During a typical cycle for a healthy woman who ovulates here is a breakdown of what she will notice:

*Immediately following menstruation a woman's cervical fluid is dry

*Leading up to ovulation CM begins to get sticky and white

*During peak fertility the CM is thin, stretchy like egg whites

*Following ovulation CM becomes sticky and dries up

*If a woman is pregnant she may notice implantation bleeding several days before her expected period.

Changes During Pregnancy

Cervical mucous during pregnancy varies from week to week and woman to woman. One week it may be heavy and constantly there, requiring a panty liner. The next week it may be nearly non-existent.

Normal cervical mucus during pregnancy:

*Creamy white or beige

*Globby, boogery CM (you may think this is your mucous plug )

You may notice that your cervical fluid increases when you are active. Like if you spent the day cleaning the house, or you worked out, you will notice an increase. This is normal and nothing to be concerned about. The only time to be concerned is when you have any of the following:

Green

Foul odor

Bleeding

If you experience any of those symptoms, please contact your doctor immediately to be sure you do not have either an infection or something more serious.
