Baby Gear

What Are the Essentials?

Finding the perfect baby gear can be quite a daunting task. If you have ever ventured into a store like Babies R Us to register, you know how many choices, and options there are. You feel like if you pick the wrong nookie or high chair, there will be some un-for-seen consequence. The world today has way too many choices! Remember when life was simpler? And all you had to do was pick the color coach (stroller) you wanted and maybe the paint?!?! Not today! Today you have jogging strollers, umbrella strollers, convertible travel systems, carriages, double/triple strollers, and the list goes on. To try and make things a little bit simpler we have compiled a list of baby necessities.

Baby Clothing - the main baby necessities

Two-sided reversible baby Double Dipper Bib

  • 4-6 undershirts
  • 4-6 onesies

  • 4-6 pairs of pj's
  • 2-3 sweaters or sweatshirts

  • 6 bibs

  • 1-2 hats

  • 7-8 outfits

  • Bath Supplies Every Baby Needs

  • 4-6 wash clothes
  • 2-3 hand towels
  • 3-4 bath towels
  • Brush and comb
  • Baby nail file, nail clippers and thermometer
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Q-tips or cotton balls
  • Baby soap and shampoo
  • Diaper rash cream
  • Diapers (cloth = 4+ dozen, disposable = 300 for first month) and wipes
  • Nursery Items You Can't Do Without

  • Crib
  • Matress (be sure it fits snuggly into the crib)
  • 3-4 crib sheets
  • 4-5 waterproof pads (if your matress isn't already waterproof)
  • Crib pad
  • 1 comforter
  • 4-6 receiving blankets
  • Changing table
  • Hamper
  • Diaper pail/ Diaper genie (if you want one)
  • Other Baby Necessities

  • High chair
  • Car seat
  • Bouncy seat
  • Diaper Bag
  • Exersaucer/ walker
  • Baby sling
  • 4-8 bottles
  • 4-6 Binkies/nookies
  • Formula or breast pump
  • Beech Baby High Chair

For one little person, you sure need a lot of baby gear! You will be amazed to find how much you actually use. You think a container of wipes will last about a month...but try 7-10 days! And as for things like bottle and wipe warmers that you think you really must have..you'll find you never use them! In fact why waste your money on a Diaper Genie if you are using disposable diapers? Do you really want a soiled diaper left in the nursery, regardless of what it is in? It seems easier and more practical to spend your money on baby gear you really need, and not on something you can easily replace with a grocery bag and a trip outside to the trash can!

    Beautiful Cribs, bedding and accessories

Choosing your baby's crib is a task that requires research. You want the crib to #1 be safe, #2 be attractive, and #3 it has to coordinate with the rest of the room. If you shop at a quality store, and not at yard sales, you won't have a problem meeting every one of the three mentioned above. Finding the perfect baby gear does take time, but it is so much fun! Check out some of our favorite baby decor/baby cribs and accessories below.
